Monticello Capital is a private financial holding company in Fairfax County, Virginia. The firm’s offices are at the SugarOak Office Retreat near Dulles Airport, in the Washington DC metropolitan area.

Monticello Capital LLC is the general partner of a limited partnership, Monticello Capital Ventures LP. Both are Virginia entities in good standing since 1998.

For two decades Monticello Capital was a boutique investment bank, M&A advisor, private equity investor, and corporate financial advisor before a planned transition to holding company status in 2018.

The investment bank—like the present-day holding company in 2021—was small, private, quiet, agile, influential in a broad range of commercial and geographical venues, and global in business outlook. Monticello Capital operated in eleven countries with deals throughout the United States and Canada, the European Union, North Africa, and the Middle East.

For about seven years, the firm was the second-largest private equity operation in the Mid-Atlantic region. There were three primary rounds of investment. The first (1998-2004) built Internet infrastructure, information technology, and web services. The second (2003-2011) concentrated in global engineering services in the EU and the Middle East. The third and most recent, beginning in 2010, invested in in anti-fraud and anti-money laundering services and technologies, federal government contracting, business process improvement services, managed IT services, and cybersecurity.
